As the first engineering hire at Delaware Bay Shipbuilding, I led the design and development of custom mechanical components for commercial marine vessels using AutoCAD and Fusion 360. The marine industry runs heavily on legacy equipment, so a significant part of this role involved reverse-engineering existing systems and redesigning them for modern manufacturing methods.
Beyond design work, I conducted ultrasonic gauge testing on aluminum and steel hulled vessels including Coast Guard and commercial cruise ships, measuring hull thickness to assess pitting and corrosion and sent findings to a licensed Naval Engineer for compliance reporting.
